— Plain English
Crwdn is a place to find and host events. By using it you agree to these rules: be honest, follow the law, don’t harm other users, and remember that events listed here are organized by independent hosts — not by Crwdn.
Hosts are responsible for their events. Attendees go at their own risk. We don’t process payments — tickets go through whatever platform a host links to.
Disputes are resolved through individual arbitration, with a 30-day opt-out. We can change these Terms; we’ll let you know when we do.
01Acceptance of these Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and Dumo LLC, the operator of Crwdn (“we”, “us”, “our”), covering your access to and use of the Crwdn web application at crwdn.org and our mobile applications on iOS and Android (together, the “Service”).
By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
02Who can use Crwdn
- You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service, or older if your country requires it (16 in much of the EU).
- If you are between the age of legal capacity and 18, you may only use the Service with a parent or legal guardian’s permission, and only for events appropriate for your age.
- You must be legally able to enter into a binding contract.
- You may not use the Service if you have been previously banned by us.
03Your account
Creating an account
You sign in using Google or a phone number through Firebase Authentication. You choose a Crwdn username during onboarding. You’re responsible for keeping your authentication credentials (your Google account or SIM/phone number) secure.
Identity and impersonation
You must provide accurate information about yourself. You may not impersonate any person, use a name in violation of any person’s rights, or use a username that is offensive or misleading.
Account security
You’re responsible for all activity that happens under your account. Notify us immediately at support@articlecast.ai if you suspect unauthorized access.
04Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any law, regulation, or these Terms
- Post or distribute content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, obscene, hateful, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable
- Promote, plan, or facilitate violence, self-harm, terrorism, child exploitation, human trafficking, or other serious harm
- Host events that are illegal where they’re taking place — including unlicensed gatherings, events serving alcohol to minors, or events that violate public health orders
- Misrepresent the nature, location, organizer, or status of an event
- Sell, scalp, or resell tickets in violation of applicable law or the original ticket terms
- Spam, send unsolicited bulk messages, or scrape the Service
- Use the Service to send phishing or other fraudulent communications
- Attempt to access another user’s account, interfere with the Service, or probe it for vulnerabilities without authorization
- Use bots, automated tools, or scrapers in ways that exceed normal interactive use
- Upload code that contains viruses, malware, or other harmful components
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from any part of the Service except where allowed by applicable law
- Use the Service in any way that disparages, defames, or otherwise harms Crwdn or other users
We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. We may also report illegal activity to law enforcement.
05Your content
What you keep
You retain all ownership rights to the events, stories, images, and other content you upload to the Service. We don’t claim ownership of your content.
What you grant us
By uploading content to the Service, you grant Crwdn a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, modify (for technical purposes like resizing or transcoding), and distribute that content for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.
This license includes the right to display your event details and stories on the Crwdn web app, mobile apps, social-media share previews, and programmatic-SEO landing pages designed to make your events discoverable.
This license terminates when you delete the content from the Service, except where copies remain in backups for a reasonable transition period or are required to enforce our Terms.
What you promise about your content
By uploading content, you confirm:
- You own the content or have all necessary rights to grant the above license (including rights to any people, music, brands, or imagery in your photos and videos).
- Your content doesn’t violate any law, third-party intellectual property right, privacy right, publicity right, or these Terms.
Copyright and DMCA
If you believe your copyright has been infringed by content on the Service, send a notice that complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) to support@articlecast.ai. Your notice must include:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorized agent
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed
- Identification of the material claimed to be infringing and its location on the Service
- Your contact information (address, phone, email)
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner
We respond to valid DMCA notices in accordance with applicable law. Repeat infringers will have their accounts terminated.
06Hosting events on Crwdn
Host responsibilities
When you create an event on Crwdn, you are responsible for:
- Providing accurate information about the event — date, time, location, description, ticket details, age restrictions, and any other material facts
- Complying with all applicable laws, regulations, and local ordinances — including but not limited to permits, licensing, occupancy limits, alcohol laws, noise ordinances, accessibility requirements, and public health rules
- Communicating any material changes or cancellations to people who have marked interest
- Honoring tickets you’ve sold or making refunds available where required by law or your own published policy
- The safety of attendees within reasonable host responsibilities
Crwdn does not vet, endorse, insure, or guarantee events listed on the Service. We are a discovery platform — not the event organizer, promoter, venue, ticket seller, or insurer.
Cancellations and changes
If you cancel or substantially change an event, update the event listing promptly. Repeated last-minute cancellations or fraudulent listings will result in account suspension.
Tickets and payments
Crwdn does not process payments. If you sell tickets, you do so through a third-party platform you link to (for example, Eventbrite, Ticketmaster, Dice, or your own checkout). Crwdn is not a party to those transactions. All refund, chargeback, and dispute matters are between you, your attendees, and your ticket platform.
07Attending events
At your own risk
Events on Crwdn are organized and operated by independent hosts. We do not own, manage, or oversee these events. By attending an event you found on Crwdn, you acknowledge and assume the risks of doing so — including risks of personal injury, property damage, illness, harassment, or theft.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Crwdn is not responsible for what happens at events listed on the Service.
Use common sense
Read the event description carefully. Confirm with the host if anything is unclear. Follow local laws and the venue’s rules. Look out for yourself and the people you’re with.
Recording at events
You may be photographed or filmed by hosts, attendees, or third parties at events. Some hosts publish those photos and videos to Crwdn as stories. If you attend public events listed on the Service, you may be visible in publicly accessible media. If you have a specific concern about a story, contact support@articlecast.ai.
08Tickets and third-party services
When you click a ticket link, you’ll be sent to a third-party site that handles payment and fulfillment. Your relationship for that purchase is with the ticket platform and the event host. The ticket platform’s own terms and privacy policy govern that interaction. Crwdn does not facilitate, guarantee, or insure ticket sales.
Similarly, when an event is virtual (Zoom, Twitch, Facebook Live, YouTube, Instagram, etc.), the third party’s terms apply to your use of that platform.
09Mobile apps
App store terms
If you downloaded a Crwdn mobile app from Apple’s App Store or Google Play, the terms of that app store also apply. In the event of conflict, the app store terms take precedence over these Terms only with respect to the app store transaction itself.
Device permissions
The mobile apps may ask for permissions including notifications, location, camera, and photo library. Each permission is requested only when needed for a feature you choose to use, and you can revoke any permission in your device settings.
Updates
You agree to keep the mobile apps up to date. We may stop supporting older versions when necessary for security or operational reasons.
Apple-specific terms
The following applies if you use Crwdn on an Apple device:
- These Terms are between you and Crwdn — not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the Service or its contents.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- In the event of any failure of the app to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) of the app. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the app.
- Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms with respect to the app, and upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple has the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
- You represent and warrant that (i) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a“terrorist supporting” country, and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
10Intellectual property
The Service (excluding your content) is owned by Crwdn and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service or its underlying software, except as expressly permitted by these Terms.
The “Crwdn” name, logo, and other brand elements are our trademarks. You may not use them without our prior written consent.
11Beta features
From time to time we may release features marked beta, experimental, preview, or similar. These features may be unstable, incomplete, or removed at any time without notice. They are provided as-is, without any warranties.
12Termination
By you
You can stop using the Service at any time. To delete your account, visit Settings and follow the prompts.
By us
We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you’ve violated these Terms, created risk or legal exposure for us, or for other operational reasons. We will give you notice where reasonably possible.
Effect of termination
When your account is terminated, your right to use the Service ends immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — intellectual property, indemnification, limitation of liability, dispute resolution — will continue to apply.
13Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR USEFULNESS OF EVENT LISTINGS POSTED BY HOSTS. WE DO NOT WARRANT THE BEHAVIOR OF OTHER USERS, HOSTS, OR THIRD-PARTY SERVICES LINKED FROM THE SERVICE.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you.
14Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, NEITHER CRWDN NOR ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR LICENSORS WILL BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES (DIRECT OR INDIRECT), OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:
- your use or inability to use the Service;
- any unauthorized access to or use of our servers or any personal information stored there;
- any interruption or cessation of transmission to or from the Service;
- any bugs, viruses, or other harmful code that may be transmitted to or through the Service;
- any content, events, or conduct of any other user or third party on or through the Service; or
- any injury, loss, or damage of any kind arising from your attendance at or participation in an event found through the Service.
To the extent the foregoing cannot be fully disclaimed, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of (i) the amount you have paid us (if any) in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (ii) US$100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations of liability, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
15Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Crwdn and its officers, employees, agents, and licensors from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of:
- your use of the Service;
- your violation of these Terms;
- your violation of any third-party right, including intellectual property and privacy rights;
- any event you host or attend that you found through the Service; or
- any content you upload to the Service.
16Dispute resolution
Informal resolution
Before bringing a formal proceeding, you agree to try to resolve any dispute by emailing support@articlecast.ai and giving us 30 days to attempt to resolve it informally.
Binding arbitration
If we can’t resolve the dispute informally, you and Crwdn agree that any dispute will be resolved through final and binding individual arbitration, except that either party may bring a small-claims action in a court of competent jurisdiction. The arbitration will be administered by JAMS under its applicable rules. The arbitration will take place in Travis County, Texas, or via remote proceedings.
Class action waiver
You and Crwdn agree to bring any claim only in your or our individual capacity, not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class action, collective action, or representative proceeding.
Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes not subject to arbitration will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Travis County, Texas.
If you are a consumer in the EU, UK, or Switzerland, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence, and the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence will apply.
30-day opt-out of arbitration
You can opt out of the arbitration and class action waiver provisions by emailing support@articlecast.ai with “Arbitration Opt-Out” in the subject line within 30 days of first accepting these Terms.
17Changes to these Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email (for account holders) and post a banner on the Service before the changes take effect. The Last updated date at the top of this document reflects when changes were made.
Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms. If you don’t agree, stop using the Service.
18General
Entire agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Crwdn regarding the Service.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full effect.
No waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not constitute a waiver of that right.
Assignment
You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms without our written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
Notices
We may send legal notices to you at the email address associated with your account. You may send legal notices to us at support@articlecast.ai.
